With some wines falling in price by as much as 20% in October, we thought we'd revisit a comparison made in a previous post – namely, how have the various Liv-ex indices performed compared to the major equity indices?
Below are the numbers for the end of October. Notice the 4 year figures for the FTSE, S&P and Nikkei – which as recently as September were 'still in the green'.
It is also interesting to note that the the Liv-ex Claret Chip (which tracks only Bordeaux First Growths) it is still the best performing of all the indices over the four year period, despite falling 17.5% in October.
All four Liv-ex indices will be updated next week.
