News from Yquem

The president of Château d’Yquem, Pierre Lurton, has announced a “new chapter” for the Sauternes estate. He said said it had begun a new strategy to help bring the brand to a wider audience while, “reinvigorating the passion of long-time Yquem lovers”.

The first step in this process is changing its release schedule. As such, the 2019 vintage of Yquem will not be released this September but in March 2022.

Not only will this allow us to optimize the “élevage” of the 2019 vintage,” he explained, “it will also give us the opportunity to work intensely with our partners in our key markets and roll out our marketing campaign in the first months of 2022, as the build-up to the commercial release.”

The 2020 vintage of the estate’s dry white wine, Y de Yquem, will be released on 21st September this year. With a severely limited crop, the domain will release 95% of the total production, “which we already know will unlikely be enough to satisfy the demand”.
